What must I do to be Saved?

An Invitation to RLDS/Community of Christ Members

Dear friends, the 16th chapter of Acts gives the account of a jailer who asked the most important question anyone can ask, “What must I do to be saved?” In his writings the Apostle Paul answers this vital question, explaining that true Christian conversion (salvation) occurs when a person:

  1. Becomes aware of his lost condition before a holy and righteous God, “There is none righteous, no not one/” (Rom. 3:10)
  2. Confesses that he is a sinner, “…for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God….” (Rom. 3:23)
  3. Acknowledges his inability to save himself, “When we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly.” (Rom. 5:6)
  4. Recognizes that Christ’s shed blood on the cross is our only hope for deliverance from sin, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins….” (Eph. 1:7)
  5. Realizes that his only righteousness is that which Christ imputes to us, “God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Cor. 5:21)
  6. Is willing to receive Christ into his heart, “…if you confess with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved….” (Rom.10:9)

Friends, wouldn’t you like to enter into a personal relationship with the Lord and receive the assurance of eternal life? You can have that assurance! Listen to the apostle John, “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life” (1 John 5:13). If you sincerely and totally commit your life to Christ as expressed in the following prayer, God promises to save you and make you His child. (Acts 16:31; John 1:12)

Dear Lord, I am moved by your agonizing death on the cross. I know I am a sinner and I understand that it was for my sins that you died and rose again. Thank you for your sacrifice. Thank you for loving me so passionately. Please forgive my sins. I invite you to come and live in my heart. I want to begin life anew with you as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for conquering sin and death so that I may have eternal life. In Your precious name I pray, Amen.

Having trusted Christ alone for salvation, the Christian’s next responsibility is to strive to do good works and to live a holy life, “…For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do….” (Eph.2:10)

We at LifeLine Ministries, encourage you to reject the false teachings of Joseph Smith and place your allegiance instead with the Jesus of the Bible, for He alone can save and give you freedom, peace and joy. This is our prayer for you.
